In August 2012 after some research into Brokerage firms we decided to engage the services of Barker Business Brokerage to market and sell our business.  Our agent was Alan Dufty and upon meeting we found him to be well presented, knowledgeable and professional.

After our initial meeting in which we went over our company financials he came back to us with a very detailed business appraisal which developed a value that both reflected the market and met our expectation.

Alan took the time to understand the complexity of our import distribution business and put together a detailed memorandum to present to prospective purchasers.  His understanding of the business enabled him to effectively screen the over 100 expressions of interest that followed from the marketing program and ensure that we only met prospective buyers with the resources to both buy and operate the company.

We had several meetings with vetted prospective purchasers.  The process was confidential with meetings taking place after hours ensuring that we did not upset staff or alert customers at an early stage of the process.

Alan presented us with a good offer which we further negotiated and by early October the contract was signed up subject to due diligence.  Throughout the due diligence process Alan was informative and kept a very good communication link between both parties to ensure everything remained on track.  Any slight bumps along the way were dealt with in a logical manner with simple variations to the agreement done by Alan in order to keep solicitor costs to a minimum.

The contract went unconditional in November and settled in December.  We were impressed with the relaxed and professional approach taken by Alan throughout the process and on a personal level I found Alan to be a pleasant individual and enjoyed spending time with him.  I would not hesitate to recommend Barker Business and the services of Alan Dufty if you were looking to sell your business.
