Doug Bishop brings something many brokers can’t: real-world ownership experience. He has built, scaled, and successfully sold multiple businesses of his own, so he understands firsthand what’s at stake.

Doug started his first business at just 18, growing and selling it within 12 months. He then built a successful corporate career across New Zealand’s food and dairy industries, holding senior leadership roles including National Sales and Export Manager, Sales Director, and Group General Sales Manager. His experience spans domestic and international markets, with hands-on involvement in product development, national distribution, and export growth into South East Asia, Hong Kong, Japan, and the Pacific.

Importantly, Doug has worked inside businesses that were ultimately acquired by major corporates such as Goodman Fielder and the New Zealand Dairy Board - giving him valuable insight into how buyers assess value and structure acquisitions.

After leaving corporate life, Doug established and grew his own food importing and brokerage business over 17 years, introducing leading brands such as Sara Lee and Patties Foods into the New Zealand market. He later sold the business, completing another successful ownership cycle. He has also owned and operated a large hospitality business.
